Marie Joan Tausz

Marie Joan Tausz, beloved wife and mother died on June 2nd, 2011. She was 60 years old and survived by her adoring husband Rich and her two dearly loved sons Rick and Brian; also her brothers Harold and William, and her sister Dorothy. Joan, as she was known to all her friends and family, died of advanced lung cancer at the Monroe Hospice. More information can be found at www.gaskinservices.com. Joan was born on September 4th, 1950 in Lake Parsippany, New Jersey, where she lived for the majority of her life before her retirement to Monroe, North Carolina. She graduated high school and began to work for Bell Labs as a clerk which she worked for until she had her sons. Joan was always active in the PTA and all of her sons' parent organizations as they grew up. She returned to work when her sons were older but for the newly formed Verizon until her retirement in 2006. Joan was an avid puzzle enthusiast and loved word games, jigsaw puzzles, card games and the tile game Rummicube. She always had an amazing sense of humor and could easily light up a room. She always felt a great responsibility in the kitchen and always took great pride in providing home cooked meals for her family. She made her own homemade tomato sauce and loved spaghetti dinners. Joan had a great love for animals and had many pets. Rich and Joan loved Springer Spaniels and her current two Bosco and Patch as well as her cat, will miss her dearly. A memorial mass will be held in her honor on Saturday, June 11th at 10:00am at St. Luke's Catholic Church on Lawyers Rd in Mint Hill.
