Maritriny Pineda Quintero

Our beloved Maritriny went to be with her Lord on February 11, 2024. Mari was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, on December 10th, 1976, and she grew up in Santa Bárbara, Venezuela. After obtaining a graduate degree, Maritriny worked at the University in Santa Bárbara as a research professor in environmental sciences.

She loved nature and everything that had to do with flowers and plants. Over the years, she visited the United States several times and decided to move here about 6 years ago. She moved to Monroe, NC, where she met David Barron in 2018, and they were married a year later, after which, she moved to Matthews to live with him and his two daughters, Faith and Bri. After a lengthy process with Immigration, they obtained visas for her sons, Ernesto and Jose Andres, who came to live with them in late 2022. Maritriny worked at the Novant Hospital in Matthews for about 2 years and had many co-workers that she loved dearly. They often commented about how much joy she brought to the workplace and how she was always singing and praising God. Mari loved being at church where she praised the Lord and listened to Bible teaching. She was also greatly loved and appreciated by the members of her church, Impacto Charlotte.

In late 2022, Mari was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a year-long battle with breast cancer, she was deemed cancer-free, but unfortunately, the cancer returned a few months later. Ultimately, Mari passed due to complications from uncontrollable blood clots. Maritriny was loved by many. She loved the Lord more than anything else and was always singing and praising Him, no matter if things were going well or if things were going badly. She always thought of other people first. She would gather donations and Spanish Bibles to send back to Venezuela and always wanted to help and pray for others. Even when people came to visit her in the hospital, she would pray for them. She loved her family and enjoyed being with them and made all holidays and birthdays grand occasions, taking advantage of the event to bake a cake, one of her favorite hobbies. Please pray for the family. She is survived by her mother Miriam and many siblings in Venezuela as well as her family in North Carolina.
