Marjorie Hefferon died on March 23, 2024 of pneumonia. She was born in Shelby, North Carolina, the daughter of Nell McGinty Perry and Clinton Moray Perry. Her parents, her son John Hefferon, and her daughter-in-law Vera Poole Hefferon predeceased her. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Hefferon (Sylvia), Michael Hefferon (Karen), and Paul Hefferon. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She worked for 32 years for Celanese Corp. in Marketing and Technical Communications where her skills as a superb technical writer were greatly admired. After her retirement from Celanese, she continued working as a consultant in technical communications for several years. Our mother was a wonderful woman with a steady and gentle manner who treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. She also had the tremendous inner strength to raise four sons by herself with no support in the 50's and 60's, a time when the opportunities for women were limited. A woman of deep Christian faith, she enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, cooking, reading, and in her later years, she loved crossword puzzles and Wordle. We will all miss her beyond words. There will be a private graveside service. For more information see the Gaskins Funeral Service website.
