On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Matthew Earle Nowell left this world surrounded by his loving family.
Matt was born in Elizabeth City, NC on October 25, 1957 to the late Milton and Elsie (Young) Nowell.
The Nowell Family then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where he lived for the remainder of his life.
Matt worked most of his life in the metal fabrication industry. He retired in 2013 due to health issues.
Matt and his family attended Hickory Grove Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school (2-3 year olds) alongside his wife, Laurie. Matt and his son, Matthew were involved with WECARE charity for many years through their church.
Matt was an avid go-kart and NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and traveling. Matt had a special love for bird-watching and Classic Rock. The artist ‘Queen’, one of his favorites, was playing as Matt passed into the arms of our Lord. In his lifetime Matt had the opportunity to see many of his favorite bands in concert; including the iconic Led Zepellin.
Matt had a delightful sense of humor and was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Matt is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Laurie Lee (Broach) Nowell, whom he married on September 25, 1982 as well as his Son, Matthew, Sister, Eva (Ronnie) King, Sisters- In-Law, Marsha (John) Gaither, Patti (Ernie) Welch and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
