Melba H. McClellan, 84, of Matthews, passed from this life on August 18, 2016, and is now in the care and capable hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her son, W.E. McClellan,Jr. of Charlotte; grandchildren, Cole Fredricks and wife, Jessica, of Winter Haven, FL, Wes Fredricks of Melrose, FL, and Kim Phillips and husband, Larry, of Jacksonville, FL; three great grandsons and one great granddaughter, in order of age, Eli Fredricks, Noah Phillips, Luke Fredricks, and Addison Phillips. Melba was preceded in death by her parents Aldon and Verna Hunter, Husband William E. McClellan, Sr.,brother Langston Hunter, sister Martha Butler and daughter Deborah M. Bentley. Melba was born in Tuscombia, AL. Her mother died when she was only a few months old and was raised by her grandmother, "Tip" Cook, Aunt Frances Cook, and Aunt Lila Minor. She graduated Deshler High School and attended Florence State College. Melba lived a devoted live to her church, family, and friends. She was a life long member of the Church of Christ, devoting 50 years of teaching 3 year olds in Sunday school and mid-week bible study. The family would like to thank the staff of Willowbrook Court at Plantation Estates and Hospice-Charlotte Region in their care and support of our loved one. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to your home church, Alzheimer's Research, or charity of choice. -
