Mildred Mollohan

Mildred Marian "Ann" May Mollohan, 91, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away Fri. Nov. 4, 2022 at her home in Waxhaw, NC, with her daughter, Kathilene, by her side.  She is with her Savior, husband, and others; her year and a half battle with abdominal cancer is over; and she is well.

Born July 14, 1931 in Prattville, AL, she was the daughter of the late Horace Benjamin May, Sr. and Mildred (Ogletree) May.

She was a 1950 graduate of Greenbelt High School, Greenbelt, MD and Lucy Webb Hayes School of Nursing, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Wash., DC.

Marian was a wife, mother, homemaker, and nurse.  She loved her family, and she loved other people.  Most important to her, she was a Christian.  She loved her Lord Jesus, His Book—the Bible, and His people.

She led home Bible club, Vacation Bible School, Children's Church, and Ladies' Fellowship and participated in many other Christian activities.  

When her husband retired, they moved to NC to work at JAARS, an arm of Wycliffe Bible Translators.  Her favorite work there, was in the JAARS kitchen, where she learned to bake—carrot cake was her specialty.  

She enjoyed time with her grandsons, keeping up with friends, crossstitch, crocheting, quilting, gardening, baking, canning and freezing.

Marian is survived by her daughters, Kathilene Mollohan and Glennis Mollohan, her two sons, Stanley Mollohan,John Mollohan, and his wife Kim Mollohan, and her two grandsons, Benjamin Mollohan and Zachary Mollohan, sister-in-law, Annie (Bob) May, nieces Ellen Caldwell, Shiela Whitely, Barbara Hicks, Michelle Thomas, Karen McCormack, other nieces and nephews, and special friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Samuel Mollohan, her brothers, Horace May, Jr., Bob May, Arnold May, her sister, Ellen Marsh, her nieces, Patricia King and Linda Sue May, and nephew, Carl May.  

Services will be held on Wed., Nov. 9, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Waxhaw Baptist "Roundtop" Church, 8213 Old Waxhaw-Monroe Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173.  Pastor Chris Whittaker will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall an hour prior to the service on Wed. Nov. 9, 2022 from 11:00 – 11:45 AM.

Interment will follow on Mon. Nov. 14 at 1:30 PM at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Bladensburg Rd., Brentwood, MD, Garden of the Apostles.
