Myra McCarty Kitchens, 96, passed away September 11 peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness. She was born July 22, 1921 in Eatonton, Georgia to Emory A. and Rosie E. McCarty. Myra grew up in Macon, Georgia and graduated from Monroe Agricultural & Mechanical High School in Monroe, GA in 1939. During the Depression, Myra was the only member of her family of five to finish school and receive her High School Diploma. There she met her future husband, John C. Due to a job relocation, the family moved to the Charlotte, NC area in 1963 and Charlotte became their home permanently. Myra was a devoted mother and grandmother spending her life being a homemaker. She was an accomplished cook and loved to make meals and special treats for her family and friends. She was truthful, honest and hardworking passing those traits down to her children. She was selfless and tireless in her ongoing support of her family and unconditionally loved them with all her heart. Myra was a sweet, kind and generous person to all who knew her and she will be sorely missed. Her family takes great solace knowing that Myra is now in heaven with her loved ones and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Myra is survived by her son John C.
