Nancy Meredith Wells Johnson

Nancy Meredith Wells "Cissie" Johnson, 72, passed away January 2, 2012, at home with family. She was born October 19, 1939 to Nancy Kyle Wells and John M. "Slim" Wells in Charleston, West Virginia. Graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV, she attended the University of Kentucky and New York School of Interior Design. Nancy established Country Manor Home Furnishings in Christiansburg, VA and Charleston, and later Nancy Wells Johnson Interior Design in Charlotte, NC. An uncanny colorist and amazing virtuoso with styles, fabrics, and furniture, she completed wonderful projects both commercial and residential, in big cities and small. Her great joy and primary motive was doing nice things for people. She loved people and people invariably fell in love with her genuineness, ease, and giving ease to everyone who crossed her path. For good reason, Nancy was recognized as the "wittiest" in Lincoln Junior High School. She was the anchor and center of affection for her family. Plus, Nancy was an exemplar and mentor for so many, praising their strengths and confidence. She is a child of God and was a living example of His goodness. Nancy is survived by husband of 53 years, Daniel F. Johnson, Sr., sons, Daniel F. Johnson, Jr. and Kyle M. Johnson, Sr., and grandson, Kyle M. Johnson, Jr., all of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by sister Sally W. Preston and husband Jim of Charleston, WV, and brother R. Michael Wells and wife Janet of Winston-Salem, NC. In addition, she was special to Dan's sister, Deborah Rinehart and husband John of Talbott, TN, and brothers David C. Johnson and wife Barbara of Hickory, NC, and Dean M. Johnson and wife Maurie of Charlottesville, VA. She was predeceased by her parents, older brother John, and mother-in-law, Dorothy M. Johnson of Charleston, WV.
