Patricia Joe Marquis

Patricia Jo Marquis of Matthews NC Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday March 12, 2020. The family will greet friends and family for a grave side service on March 20, 2020 at 1pm at Sunset Memorial gardens. Those that plan to attend please bring yellow roses because there were her favorite flower and it means love and friendship.  Mrs. Marquis was born on March 12, 1945 in Baltimore Maryland the daughter of Don Livingston Barnes and Billie Joe Cunningham.  Patricia was very active with all her children from being a brownie troop leader to organizing the choir records for cokes bury united Methodist church. She also worked in the health room at independence high school where we all graduated from then became a substitute teacher for a least 20 years. She also took time to take care of grandchildren and enjoyed life. She loved to shop and read about the royal family and to spend time with her family. She is preceded by her husband of 41 year David Stanley Marquis and she is survived by death by her two sisters Wendy Johns of Florida and Penny D. Barnes and Calvin of Alabama also her children Jeffrey Marquis of Matthews, Misty Burnette and husband Michael Burnette of Concord, Ivy Berman and husband Steven Berman of Charlotte. She also is survived by 4 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Arrangements are being made by Gaskin Funeral Services.
