Patricia Peavy Summers

Charlotte, North Carolina - Patricia "Patti" Peavy Summers, age 65, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 13, 2021. Patti was born on December 9, 1955 in Charlotte, NC to the late Robert Jennings Peavy and the late Ruth Pearl Lockey. She was also preceded in death by brother, William Thomas Peavy; brother, Robert Jennings Peavy, Jr., and grandson, Gabriel Luke Blair.

Patti graduated with honors from Harding High School (Class of '74). From childhood through her final days, Patti touched people's lives with her infectious laughter, welcoming smile, encouraging words, and witty sense of humor. To know her was to adore her. Her life was the definition of a servant's heart. Most recently, Patti worked as a Christian Response Associate at Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Her passions included volunteering and sharing the good news of the gospel. She freely and graciously gave her time to Operation Christmas Child, the Pregnancy Resource Center of Charlotte, and a mentoring program through the local schools. Patti and her husband Tony poured their love and the love of Christ into others by leading several addiction recovery groups and life groups over the years. Patti also co-facilitated a GriefShare group through Forest Hill Church, where she helped countless numbers of people work through sorrow and loss, always pointing them to the promises of Scripture. Above all, she cherished time spent with family and friends. Patti approached her relationships and friendships with intention, never missing an opportunity to send a card, make a call, write a letter, buy a gift, schedule a lunch date, or attend a special event. She continually gave of herself whole-heartedly, even through her diagnosis, treatment, and subsequent care.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Anthony Martin Summers; daughter Tonya Davis and husband, Matt, of Rome, GA; daughter Shannan Blair and husband, Todd, of Hendersonville, NC; five grandchildren, Brody Davis, Caleb Blair, Abram Blair, Gloria Blair and Gideon Blair; sisters, Margie Mullis (Bill) and Nancy Walker (Terry), both of Charlotte, NC; 7 nieces, and 6 nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11AM at Steele Creek Church of Charlotte. Please wear purple in honor of Patti's favorite color. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9PM on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Gaskin Funeral Services in Matthews.
