It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peggy Jo Welch Gleason, lovingly known as "MeMaw" to her family and friends. Peggy was born on September 15, 1936, in St. Albans, West Virginia, and she passed away peacefully at her home on May 12, 2024.
Peggy led a rich and fulfilling life, dedicating herself to a career in teaching and also running a Card Shop with her Mom Virginia Ruth Welch. She earned a Bachelor's Degree at Marshall University, showcasing her commitment to education and lifelong learning.
One of Peggy's proudest accomplishments was being a Sunday School Teacher for Seniors, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and wisdom. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her final moments, Peggy was surrounded by her beloved friends and family, finding comfort in their presence. She is survived by her son Kevin Gleason and Melissa Clauson, daughter Kim Gleason Locker, son "Chip" Gleason, along with her cherished grandchildren Kaylyn Locker, Tyler Locker, Aiden Peterson, Cooper Gleason, Charlotte Gleason, Jonathon Gleason, and Alex Gleason, as well as her sister Gina Gallagher, niece Shannon and nephew Sean
Peggy is reunited in peace with her husband George Thomas Gleason Jr. and daughter Debbie Jo Gleason. Together they built a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire all those who knew them.
Services to honor and remember Peggy will be held at Gaskin Funeral Services in Matthews for visitation on May 22nd from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Graveside Service at Sunset Memory Garden in Mint Hill from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on the same day.
Peggy Jo Welch Gleason will forever be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering dedication to family and education, and the profound impact she had on all those around her. May she rest in eternal peace.
