Rachel Tarlton Blackmon

March 20, 1931 — March 18, 2021

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Rachel Tarlton Blackmon, 89, of Monroe was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on March 18th, 2021. Rachel spent her final days surrounded by family at Monroe Rehabilitation where she finally won her fight with dementia when God called her home. Rachel is survived by her daughters Debbie Hamlett, Teresa Sapp(Gene), Barbara (George), Darlene(Ken). Additionally her grandchildren Matthew Hamlett, Kimberly Deaton, Tyler Hamlett, Taylor Sapp, Teresa Nickol, Donald Nickol, Angela Adams, Nikki Smith, and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister LaNelle Richardson, and brother Don Tarlton. Rachel is preceded in death by her loving husband Dwight Blackmon, son in law Michael Hamlett, and brothers and sisters Oscar, Odell, Wilson, Boyce, Charles, Raeford, and Alma. Rachel grew up on a farm in Monroe and was one of 10 children to the late William and Dora Tarlton. She worked in the fields picking cotton and helping out with chores around the farm. Rachel is best known for being the cook at Cornerstone Baptist church where she would cook the church meal every Wednesday night, and then would also cater events for the church. She always had a big bright smile on her face and loved to serve people in any way that she could. She loved the Lord and loved to share her faith with those around her. We ask at this time that you show kindness to those around you, that you live each day sharing a big bright beautiful smile, and cook a good meal to enjoy around the table with your family.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
