Ralph C. La Salle Jr.

Ralph Charles La Salle Jr went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 19th, 2015. He was born on June 13th, 1937 in Klamath Falls, OR to Ralph Sr. and Lela La Salle. His family moved to Skagway Alaska in 1954 where he finished high school and worked for the Whitepass & Yukon Railroad. He attended college in Fairbanks Alaska, where he settled for 50+ years and started and raised his four children from a previous marriage. He retired from Ft. Wainwright Power Plant after 33 years. Ralph owned his own heating business for 20 years. Ralph also worked at the Arctic Circle on the Dewline. In 1995 Ralph married his princess Marlin Sabrina La Salle becoming her Knight in Shining Armor, which he claims was slightly tarnished. The slipper fit and they enjoyed 20 years creating a love story that will last into eternity- "forever and a day". Their greatest blessing was the day God gave them each other. In 2007 they moved to Charlotte, NC. Ralph enjoyed fly fishing and had his very own special wrist technique. He loved boating the Alaskan waters, hiking, and hunting in the picturesque mountains. Ralph was an avid modal railroader and created a museum quality diorama in his 830 sq. ft. garage. He was a member of the Tanana Valley Model Railroad Club. Ralph, Marlin, and son Matthew Mason were huge Duke Basketball fans. Rarely did he miss a game on the television. He was very thrilled when Duke won the NCAA National Championships this year. Ralph loved his church family at Trinity Baptist Church in Charlotte. He quickly formed deep friendships with his Pastor, Larry Wilson and the Deacons. Ralph was part of their mission group and would visit and comfort church members. They were quite the group of trouble makers. Ralph is survived by his loving wife Marlin, 8 children: Randy (Bobby) La Salle, Suzanne (Wayne) Fralick, Laurie (Erich) Bergh, Nancy La Salle Curry, Matthew Mason, Tonie (Josh) Wine, Kevin Mason, and Andrea (Josh) Ballinger. He also has 14 grandchildren: Colin, Gillian, Oliver, Jared, Aaron, Krystal, Alex, Jacob, Shelby, Savanna, John, Jeremy, Cameron, and Caden. Brother Leon and sister in law Mary Lou. His dear friends Mike and Sharon Leonard. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Lela La Salle, Brothers Leland and Melborn, and beloved Auntie Eno (Elanor Wass). -
