Richard "Dick" Evans

June 8, 1940 — April 22, 2024

Mint Hill

Richard “Dick” Evans was born to Richard and Catherine Evans from Mint Hill, N.C. on
June 8 th , 1940. He grew up in a loving home surrounded family and friends. He grew
up learning the values of a hard day’s work, honesty, generosity, and compassion for
others. All characteristics that he carried with him throughout his life and passed on to
his family.
Dick loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He lived his life as an example to all who
knew him of what it truly means to live life with Jesus. Dick served the churches he
attended for many years as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder and Deacon.
Dick worked for Fredrickson Motor Express for twenty years before becoming a
Distributor for Interstate Batteries in 1979. He retired in 2004, but quickly returned to
work part time for Pike Electric delivering supplies to job sites. He continued to work for
himself until he was 80 years old running, Evans Transport, his own delivery service.
His idea of true joy was behind the wheel of something, car, truck, tractor, lawn mower,
whatever could be driven he wanted to drive it.
His greatest joy in life was his family. He loved his wife Harriett McClure Evans for 49
years until she passed in 2020 from breast cancer. Dick is survived by his children,
Chuck (Mary) of Indian Trail N.C., Sheri Huntley (Brian) of Concord N.C, Mark (Missy)
Pageland, S.C., John (Erin) of Monroe N.C.
Grandchildren
Paul Evans (Hollie), Brent Huntley (Laura), Grey Huntley (Emily), Morgan McLaughlin
(Josh), Leighton Evans (Hillary), Tyler Huntley (Kailey), Maghen Evans, Brittany Evans,
Eric Evans (Kylie), Parker Evans and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Dick shared an incredibly close bond with his brothers and sister. Dick was preceded in
death by his brothers Bill Flowe (Betty) of Mint Hill, N.C. and Jerry Evans of Clemmons,
N.C. and brother-in-law James Austin.
He is survived by his brother Tommy Flowe (Lynda) of Matthews NC, sister, Ann Austin
of Mint Hill, N.C. and sister-in-Law Kelly Evans of Clemmons, N.C.
