Robert "Rob" James McGinn III, 66, of Charlotte, NC passed away on the evening of February 5, 2015 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster in Charlotte. Rob was a loving Christian father and husband who enjoyed spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren). He was an avid sports enthusiast. In his spare time he loved playing basketball, golfing, and watching his favorite sports teams with his dog Beau. He could tell you the score of any game and always knew the background of every coach and player. His family and friends could always count on him for the best advice, wisdom, sharp wit, and the answer to any Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit question. He was preceded in death by his parents of Lexington, NC. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Palmer McGinn, of Charlotte; a son, Mark Chandler McGinn, and his wife, Susan, of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Amanda McGinn Piekutowski, and her husband, Ian, of Greenville, SC, and Kristin McGinn Stone, and her husband, Ryan, of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Caroline McGinn and Jack McGinn of Charlotte, NC and Davis Piekutowski and John Piekutowski of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Karon McGinn and Molly Bailey and her husband, Alan, of Lexington, NC; a brother-in-law, Jack Palmer and his wife, Carol, of Lewes, DE; five nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Stapell and her husband, Bob, of Mickleton, NJ, Daniel Palmer and his wife, Julie, of Hingham, MA, Cameron Bailey, Palmer Bailey, and Sheldon Bailey all of Lexington, NC.
