Rosa Engracia de Leon

Rosa de León Saenz, formerly of Ogden, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 29th, 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina surrounded by her loving family. Rosa was born November 4th, 1943 in San Juan, Ostuncalco, Guatemala to Augusto Jose Francisco Saenz and Felipa Piedad Rivera Arriola. She was the 5th of 8 children. Her siblings are Magdalena (deceased), Alba, Isabel, Ana (deceased), Dagoberto, Beltran, and Sonia. She and Adolfo de León Yllesca were married in 1967 in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. She came to the United States in 1964. She worked for many years as a talented beautician, eventually working from home with a clientele of many friends and family who would go to no one else after visiting Rosa - as told by some of her customers "she was the best hairstylist in Sterling, VA". She retired from civil service from the Department of the Navy. She was dearly loved by all. Her greatest joys were her family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She often spoke of Jesus Christ and other aspects of her faith. Her favorite calling was as an Ordinance Worker in the Ogden Temple. She wrote regularly on Facebook of her love for the Savior. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her many wonderful dishes, many of which were from recipes she learned from her mother and sisters. Rosa is now resting peacefully after a struggle with cancer. She will be missed and honored by many, but she is surrounded by many friends and family who have passed before her. Her greatest legacy is her family. She is survived by 5 children: Alex (Kimberly), Jose (Toni), Adolfo Jr (Jen), Hugo (Camille), and Grace Nielsen (Kevin), her former husband, Adolfo Sr; grandchildren, Jose Jr, Ben (Carly), Eric (Brittany), Daniel, Tyler, Jacob, Nicole, Brittany, Emily, Kyle, Ryan, Emma, Lauren, Derek, Aubrey, Logan, Gabby; great-grandchildren, Aria, Ellie, Payton, Aiden, Hayden, Parker. Service activities will be on Saturday October 7th: Viewing from 12:00-12:45 pm at 13925 Thompson Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227 Funeral will follow at 1:00 pm Burial will be at 2:30 pm, held at Sharon Memorial Park; 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212. This remarkable woman will be dearly missed. -
