Roscoe Loomis Fox, Jr. died peacefully Sunday June 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 22, 1925 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Louise Weidenfeld Fox and Roscoe Loomis Fox, Sr. and attended Charlotte Schools, graduating from Central High School in 1944. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was stationed in Naples, Italy, during his time in service. He was awarded the EAME Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. During his time in Italy, Buddy had the privilege of a private meeting with Pope Pius the 12th. After returning home from the war Buddy attended Belmont Abbey and North Carolina State University. After attending NC State he was an agent with Hardware Mutual and that was the beginning of his insurance career. He started his own insurance company Roscoe Fox Insurance Agency which he operated for 17 years. He was also Secretary-Treasurer of People's Savings and Loan in Charlotte. Later in life he was involved in real estate and textiles. Buddy was a historian and loved talking to people and sharing his stories. He loved old Charlotte history and Civil War History. During his time at People's Savings and Loan he met the love of his life Eleanor Williams McNinch. They were married on June 4, 1959, at Myers Park United Methodist Church and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. They were blessed with three wonderful children, William Cullen Fox, and his wife, Tina, of Waxhaw, Eleanor Fox Maynard and husband, John, of Stanley and Elizabeth Fox Kendrick and husband, Scott, of Stanley. Buddy enjoyed 5 grandchildren, Alex Maynard, Caitlyn and Cullen Fox and Logan and Lindsey Kendrick. The family has suggested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one, or both, of the wonderful organizations listed to the left under "Place A Donation". *
