Sandra Elizabeth Foard

Sandra Elizabeth Foard, daughter of Margaret Johnston & Boyce Neil Foard, was born in 1945 in Charlotte.  Sandra spent much of her youth helping her father & sister care for her invalid mother.  After graduating high school, Sandra was employed with the Insurance Company of North America (now CIGNA) in the Southeast Division claims department.  There she served as an assistant manager, specializing in coordinating trucks and supplies for teams tasked with supporting those affected by catastrophes such as hurricanes, floods, and fires.  Following her retirement after 35 years of service, she pursued her love & passion for growing roses.  She grew beautiful roses, some of which were very delicate and rare, which gave her great pleasure.  She enjoyed sharing the blooms with neighbors, friends, family and especially those in need of a bright spot in their day.

For the past 16 years she lived on a beautiful small farm she inherited from her grandfather. She loved her pets and enjoyed feeding the animals who visited her from the woods. Sandra was a quiet, simple, strong woman of faith.   She is survived by her sister Barbara who will miss her dearly, her Aunt Virginia Foard, and a large extended family of cousins.  She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Sandra had a genuine compassion for the needs of children and animals, and it gave her great joy to help charities that served both.  In lieu of flowers and in honor of Sandra’s generosity, memorial donations to the following charities are appreciated:

A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10:00am at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC.
