Thelma Lee Canup

Thelma Lee Canup, 86, formerly of Charlotte, but now residing in Claremont, NC, peacefully went to be with the Lord Friday, May 20, 2011. After 37 years, Thelma retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System where she will be remembered as a baker in the cafeteria at Merry Oaks Elementary School. When her late husband, Gene Canup, coached baseball she was known as the "mother" to hundreds of young ball players. Her immediate family includes her children, Homer E. Canup, Jr. of Cleveland, TN, David F. Canup, Sr. of Claremont, NC, and Elaine Austin of Charlotte; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
