Troy Withers

August 1, 1925 — June 4, 2016

William Troy Withers of Charlotte, NC went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2016. He was born on August 1, 1925 in Catawba County. Troy attended Wilson Grove Baptist Church where he was a member since 1959. He worked as a barber in Charlotte and Mint Hill. Serving in the 1st Infantry, he was a decorated veteran, having taken part in the Omaha Beach Invasion on D-Day, and Campaigns in Northern France and the Rhineland. He had a sense of humor, liked taking trips to see new places, and enjoyed socializing with people. But most of all he loved his family and believed each day of his life was a gift he had been given. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Blanche Withers, five children, Larry Elliotte Withers (Jewell), Linda Ann Meckes, William Franklin Withers (Patsy), Elizabeth Jane McLamb (Carl), and Charles Mark Withers, six grandchildren, Rhonda Withers, Christina Moses (Edward), Carl McLamb, Jr., Ashton Withers, Mallory Withers, and Bailey Withers, four great-grandchildren, Christyn Woodie, Casey Hull, Jordan Hull, and Trent Thompson, and one great-great-grandchild Aurora Bielenberg. -
