Van Lingle Haire

Van L.,"Papa Cub",Haire, 81, of Mint Hill, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Thursday morning, March 15, 2012. He is preceded in death by his two children, Tina Susan Haire, and Anthony Carroll Haire. Mr. Haire was born in Pageland, SC, and moved to Charlotte in 1950. In 1955 he joined the Charlotte Police force and was a member of the elite Charlotte Motorcycle Police Drill Team. After leaving the department, he joined Burlington Industries and was a truck driver with that company for many years. His immediate family includes his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Patricia C. Haire, of Mint Hill; their "special family", Ben Amy, Seth, Christopher, Joshua, Caleb, Eli, and Luke Griffith; and two cousins, Harold Price of Charlotte, and Horace Price and his wife, Doris, of Hartsville, SC. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Mint Hill and Idlewild Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squads for all of their help. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Faith Baptist Church. -
