Wilbur "Sonny" Perrin Vinson, 74 of Charlotte passed away very peacefully after a four-month painless battle of lung and brain cancer at Carrington Rehab of Charlotte/Matthews, NC on Monday, March 15, 2021. Sonny was born in Presbyterian Hospital of Charlotte NC on January 29, 1947, to Eunice Cox Vinson and George Perrin Vinson. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and went along to have some college education.
Sonny was retired but continued to work as a part-time property maintenance manager with CBRE Properties until December of 2020. He always had to stay busy working and helping others any way he could. He enjoyed working and going to Flea Markets with his loving wife Jean of 55 years. He enjoyed talking and meeting new people. He could always make people laugh with his stories of the unique collection of things that made very funny and interesting conversations. He loved to make people smile and was known very well among friends and relatives for his very kind warm and friendly SMILE!
Sonny and Jean attended Abundant Life Church of Matthews. In the past, he was affiliated with the Masons. Sonny is survived by wife Jean Crump Vinson, two sisters; Georgia Dorrondah "Sissy" Rhonda Vinson Burnette (husband Selma "Sam" Burnette) and Sarah Diane Vinson McCall (deceased husband Henry W McCall). His In-Laws; Wayne Crump, Sheila Swanger, Roger Crump (wife Rita). Many nieces and nephews which he held a very special place in his heart and he and Jean loved them as if they were their own children. He and Jean spent a lot of time camping with them as they were growing up.
He is preceded in death by George Perrin Vinson (father), Eunice Cox Vinson (mother) whom he had the pleasure to work with at their store "Vinson Grocery & Gas Station on Central Avenue and Monroe Rd in Charlotte when he was growing up. Preceding In-Laws Cleatus Alexander Crump, Dorothy Milling Crump, Beverly Ann Crump, Charles Richard Crump.
He will truly be missed – We Love You Very much Sonny Rest In Peace!
